Darren if you prefer the pearl eye birds then you should select the birds
with dark color heads for breeding and that will reduce the chances of bull
eye as well as the odd eyes... See the pic. attached of this youngster it
has white tail and white flights but dark head and it has both pearl eyes
now. the birds with white head ( or white marking around the eyes) have more

Hi Darren,
Yes mate you can breed the odd eye or the bull eye out of your line of birds
by pairing her to one of her young ones that are mainly blue in colour and
has pearl eyes. After a few matings you will produce badges with pearl eyes.
There is nothing wrong with badges with odd eyes or bull eyes, it is only a
lack of pigment in the eye.

Hey Dave ,

About the eye color in pigeons, Orange is the dominant color in pigeons, and
pear is recessive. As for your thoughts on Strains and eye color it is not a
factor.

Hi Barney,
first time I found ash red (mealy) was in the birds brought to north
American continent in early seventies. Birds were of Carnew strain, that
Davies brothers flew. Actually Mr. Ferguson imported the birds to Minnesota
directly from one of Davies brother, might be wrong, but I believe the name
was Geoff ?

Dave,
Dave you may have a point. Not only in NA but UK & other parts of the world
as well. I guess we all become use to seeing local birds & colours. It all
comes down to local fanciers colour choice. You guys have allot more Bell
necks, badges..........etc which we have some but to the extent we see in
UK.

Danny,
apparently he flew mostly reds and yellows, but also silvers and duns, even
pure whites. According to what late Mr Hunt told me,Ballmer position was
very bad to drop the bird, because of a lot of big oak tree's in his back
yard, and the coop being right next to a three story house.

my own eyes a pure white Gordon Hughes tippler, and here is 3 this year's
young birds, Total quality and buiteful feathering, the birds were bred from
a pair of Tom Dilks Hughes birds, Tom was never away from Gordon's Cree and
had his best, He was telling me that Gordon was a poor young bird flyer 12
