Yes mate i know a little bit about the Hughes lol, I think the badge
interest has been flogged to death on this forum, basically in a nutshell
the heavy badge influence you see in birds being described as Hughes birds,
are what you already have mentioned Welsh Badges.

The only true pure colours attributed to be Gordon Hughes are Greys and
Blues with some Blues with the odd white marking, be it in the tail wing or
white ticks on the head. I have mentioned this numerous times on the forum,
but Hughes started his inbreeding with three birds and behind the breeding
of these birds where greys.

To get the prints that i have, is a simple process of pairing close related
greys together, and with certain pairs this is how i breed the prints,
something i have done for a number of years, i then pair the prints to self
blues, which brings me back to the greys/dark greys.

The red i think maybe your are referring to you was something that was
discussed a few weeks or so ago, it was suggested that the breeder was
approached to find out where the red influence came into being, as Hughes
breeding records do not show any reference to reds.
