Great day today for cleaning out the deep litter, sun shining on the loft
ideal cleaning day..I know, some lads who have had the same deep litter down
for a few years now. They just clean the messy stuff from under the perches,
and rake the litter around.

When they do take out the deep litter, some use Jeyes fluid to clean the
loft out before a new covering off deep litter. I know hemp core is quite
popular with a lot or Racing Guys for deep litter, Hemp core is what the
horsey people use for the stable floors.

I have one friend who has just cleaned his deep litter out, and used
creosote on the floor before the new stuff went on top. You can safely say,
the creosote would have killed any nasties lurking around the crevices in
the loft, and if you like the smell of it, which i do, gives the loft that
really fresh and clean feel about it.
