Some ration the barley, giving less than others. I give a little under what
they could eat up, being a fancier that likes to see his kit strong and not
looking for the droppers all the time. I would sooner it take an hour to
drop them than have to drive them for an hour.

How I Spoilt My Birds

By: John Hickinbottom Bentley, Walsall UK

Here as promised is the article on how I spoilt my birds -- three clay cocks
and three clay silver hens.

I bred these birds in 1981. These were amongst the twenty I bred and broke
(settled), not losing one bird.

Standard of Perfection

Nov

By: Nino Bugeja

Category: General

Behind every loft is a breeder that is continuously striving to breed more
specimens that mirror the "Standard " of whatever he is breeding, in this
case we are the breeders of "Endurance Flying Tipplers".

What we are talking about is a medium sized bird capable of prolonged flight
for many hours at one time. Like all things in nature this breed of bird has
evolved over many years, and in this case "Nature" had very little to do
with what we have today.

I have been reading some new info of Epsom Salts, and its use in respect to
pigeons.

It's been long thought that (and by me also) that the use of this in a
manner to Purge the birds was the way to go before a feed up and a
competition.

After reading this new info I am no longer a believer, even though

Drinking The Enemy--The Science of Watering

Nov

By: Christian Otrakji, MD
Date: 4/7/2000
Category: Health

"Warm Water makes birds sick", solemnly announced to me one day, a dear
friend, an old timer with a heavy East European accent. Warm water is bad
for the birds. At first, this old adage, certainly worth its weight in gold,
didn't make sense to me. I couldn't see how warm water could make birds
sick.

First sign of Paratyphoid

Nov

By: Ali Hyder
Date: 2005
Category: Health

The first sign of Paratyphoid that I noticed is:

When the bird tries to flap its wings as an exercise (not flying) you will
notice a little sloppiness in the wing action. A very little lightness in
the body (in the keel). Standing on 1 leg. Laying down as if sitting on the
egg but on one side (when people are not around).
