you have understood the point about BOPs, even though you don't have big
losses yourself.
I have become a member of the Racing Pigeon Club in Germany to be able to
gather information and encourage them to joint this move. At the mean time I
was told that they have around 50.000 members in Germany, and all together
with other types of Pigeons. I was told that there are over 100.000 pigeon
fanciers in Germany . I am so surprised that till now nothing could be done.
Every pigeon fancier who flies his birds looses a minimum number of 10 birds
every year, not including fanciers like me who loose around a 100 birds a
year we are losing 1000.000 birds every year alone in Germany!!! How many
BOP's could eat 1000.000 pigeons besides the other smaller birds which they
eat as starter or desert? I am not good biology but I have heard they don't
take more than one pigeons a day. Please calculate for yourself and see if
this over population of BOPs don't endanger our nature? I really believe the
governments don't have enough information about all that. Because yesterday
I war searching in the internet to gather some information and read
somewhere that in Germany there are about 1200 birds of prey, if this was
true we couldn't even notice them around the cities. If the German
government has to compensate the fanciers by at least 20.000.000 Euros a
year.
