Hi Mike,
Mick Hoskins originally imported two Shannon birds from Harry's loft in the
late 90's a Blue Cock and a Dun hen. The hen after a while died, but the
offspring bred from these two imports were then bred from again and
again(Father to daughters). In 2008 Mick Hoskins and myself imported some
more Shannon birds from Harry's loft. Mick had 3 birds, and I had two as
well. These birds were sent into quarantine in Kent in the UK. Due to the
outbreak of Bird flu in the UK the birds were in lock down for nearly two
years, and unfortunately two of Mick's Shannon's died in quarantine, and one
of my Shannon's a silver grizzle died as well. Hence only two Shannon birds
arrived in Australia. Mick received his Shannon Grey Grizzle cock and I
received my Shannon White Flighted Blue hen with a bit of white on her head.
I also had two Hughes hens and two Dunseith birds in quarantine from Davey
Warrener at the same time, however one of the Hughes hens also died in
quarantine. So all together I received one Shannon Hen, two Dunseith's, one
a black hen and the other a dark bronze cock, plus a Hughes Blue Bar hen.
Four birds in all.
I hope this explains why only two Shannon birds arrived in Australia in the
second importation.

I must be getting old and my memory must be running riot. I forgot to
mention that apart from the Shannon's that I have already mentioned which
came into Australia, Mick Hoskins in 2010 received two Grizzle Shannon's
from Harry as well as two Fenton birds as well from Manny. Sorry for the
oversight on my part.

Cheers, Danny.
