Progress with Tipplers

It is no use hanging onto the shirttails of some long dead Englishmen or some very much alive Irishman. You are landed with a consignment of Tipplers and from day number one they are yours. The odds are that you will ruin them because you will never have the dedication involved behind these strains.

All to often these days, men are more "dead" than "dedicated". In all sincerity I do salute the masters of the sport, dead or alive, but they exported their birds or the eggs from the birds and not their dedication. Not one of them ever retired on the proceeds or profits from sales. A contest win with Tipplers, even at so-called "World Record Level" never, ever netted more than a few pounds and the trophies were never in the same category of the English Crown Jewels! You do not win a Rolls Royce or a holiday in Disney Land if you win a Tippler contest.

However, I do salute the spirit of competition wherever it is conducted logically, realistically and with honour. I do applaud the honour system that prevails in the USA. It provides the isolated Tippler man with recognition and a dignity without having to "rope in" a witness. I have been roped in several times and it was either a great pleasure or a monumental bore, depending on the conversation as the day wore on. A relief timer was most welcome if the time dragged on into the late afternoon.
