novice breaking ten hours

Hi there,
the KCHT decided to stick as close as possible to the NTU rules and in the
process of preparing modifications to our rules we encountered something we
do not quite understand. It is the following paragraph of the NTU rules:

2b. Note: Novices are defined as those who have not flown a kit of birds for
ten hours or more in any organized club or NTU competition. Competing
novices must put a tick on time sheet where it says tick for novice. Any
novice breaking ten hours or more in any organized competition to remain a
novice for the remainder of the season.

From what we could understand here is that this clause helps the newcomers
in achieving the novice cup since they must remain novices till the end of
the season. Is there anything else that we do not see?

Thanks for any reply !
Frank

Frank - This rule is explained like this:

Anybody who wants to compete for the Novice cup, must not have registered a
competition result of ten hours or more. As soon as a competitor ticks the
box as a novice, any time recorded over ten hours that season will be
counted towards the novice cup, and the competitor remains a novice for the
remainder of the season.

So for example a competitor who enters a competition and ticks the box as a
novice and records a time of say 10HRS 01min, that time will start the
calculator counting until the end off the season, when all his other
competition times are added up. But if the same fancier, for one reason or
another does not record another time that season, then because he has
already gone over 10hrs by one minute, then the same fancier is unable to
compete as a novice next season....

Hope that explanation makes it clear for you?

I should have added this to my last post.....any newcomer can remain a
novice for aslong as he wishes, aslong as he does not record a time above
10hrs.
