I was talking to harry Shannon last night he told me to let u know that the
Irish lads did not join the n.t.u till 1978. the Irish had their own union ,
he said he started flying tipplers at the age of 16 and him and his mate
Wesley Ferguson flew the Billingham birds, and in 1966 on the same night the
2 off them broke the Irish record and were the 1st men to fly a kit over
19hrs over here, they called time at the same time 19hrs10Min's not by luck
,they knew what they were doing .hope this helps a wee bit of history , as
for my birds the 4 birds I started with all came from harry Shannon but
there was 1 full Potts cock that was bred by Mr. Potts he was a grey grizzle
with white splashes over 1 wing ... grizzle badge cock ..... grizzle badge
hen and a black badge hen that bobby Dunseith bred out of Harry's birds . in
the last 10 years there has only been 4 more birds brought in, 1 more full
Potts cock i picked myself out off kens loft as a gift. what a gift he was
,all his offspring's have won nationals and broke records 4 me ...... 2
grizzle badge hens from harry and a grizzle badge cock also Harry's, so
basically my family of birds consist of 2 Potts birds 6 Shannon birds. I
know what's what and what way 2 pair them so I maintain the Potts and
Shannon 50/50 cross and maintain explosion in their genes to give the birds
a good strong blood line . harry sent me down 2 lovely dun prints two
sister's as a gift they look the part and feel great in ur hand, cant wait
until if fly their young ones hope this helps u barney good luck and might
see u soon. r u going 2 Blackpool there is a lot of Irish flyer's heading
over.
